AMPYR Energy USA (AMPYR) is seeking Senior Manager, Power Marketing & Origination to join our team in North America focusing on the rapidly growing renewable energy sector.

This position will actively undertake market and customer outreach to originate offtake opportunities and manage customer relationships. This position will have significant focus on SERC, WECC, CAISO, ERCOT, and PJM markets. This person will interact with external stakeholders including customers, intermediaries, consultants, and other offtake advisory.  This person will work closely with the internal team to support creating value for existing project pipeline, undertake customer research, understand market regulatory construct for C&I offtake, and participate in influencing Offtake strategies for existing project pipeline, greenfield development, and contribute to project due diligence for M&A opportunities for Solar PV, hybrid (PV + BESS), and standalone BESS projects. The role offers the opportunity to work in a growth environment offering a path to career development.

Responsibilities

Duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Originate offtake opportunities through customer outreach campaigns driven by systematic research and analysis of customer base and market.
  • Independently assess and identify power offtake leads through direct prospecting and networking efforts, while developing lasting client relationships in the renewable energy sector. This includes but is not limited to, identifying RFP opportunities, and originating bilateral PPA targets outside formal RFP processes.
  • Undertake market research and outreach to market participants to formulate view on energy, REC’s and capacity pricing in various ISO and non-ISO markets.
  • Review and articulate demand signals in regulated markets through review of integrated resource plans, markets load growth driven by macroeconomics, and green procurement plans under sustainability targets for corporations.
  • Support Company’s power offtake strategy for individual projects. Create revenue strategies to maximize project value and implement financeable offtake structures.
  • Remain apprised of various offtake structures and advise suitability for individual projects in the development pipeline. This includes but is not limited to physical PPA, Virtual PPA’s, utility sleeved transactions, capacity contracts, tolling agreements etc.
  • Work with the head of Power Marketing to position projects that have matured enough in the development process for offtake opportunities.
  • Work and coordinate internally with development, legal, F&A, technical teams to coordinate and support the preparation and submission of offtake proposals in response to RFP’s.
  • Support due diligence of various project acquisition opportunities by formulating view on offtake feasibility at the project location and providing pricing input for financial modeling.

Qualifications, Education and Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree in a business or technical discipline. MBA in Finance would be a preferred qualification.
  • At least 10 years’ overall business experience in energy industry with last 5 years in origination or sales of project offtake (energy, REC’s, and capacity)
  • Strong relationships with potential Offtakers, Buyers, Customers and PPA Counterparties (Corporates, Munis, Coops, CCAs, IOUs, etc.).
  • Understanding of US power markets and ability to assess, evaluate, and provide insight into evolving market conditions.
  • Strong knowledge of power market concepts including physical and virtual PPA’s, hedges, curtailment, SCED, basis risk, PRS, Resource Adequacy, deliverability, power and commodity price curves, is preferred.
  • Strong skills in excel based modeling and data manipulation within complicated financial models and databases.
  • Excellent computer skills working with various office equipment, computers and various programs including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, etc. and the ability to effectively work on spreadsheets, word processing, networking, and e-mail programs.
